The  history of the penetration of two phases of multinational Corporations in Nigeria is of two phases first it considered with the period of open door policy of industrialization which resulted in the multilateralization of sources of investment and technological market and monopoly of capital in the  colonial period the market of the colonies were monopolized by the multinational Corporations in the colonized countries, company like Unilever and its subsidiaries started operating even before colonialism and at still in operation up till date with the moving out of colonialism and emergency of multilateral imperialism under the hegemony of United State of America after 1945 giant manufacturing output known as multinational Corporations or transnational corporations emerged as a dominant agent of imperialism especially after the colonialization of the 1960s.

Multinational Corporations are large Corporations or conglomerates with substantial business operations in several countries, most multinational Corporations operate in market dominated by only few sellers of which they are often the largest, they are usually able to control their sources of raw material, diversify their risk, shift their productive facilities from country to country to take advantage of new market situations or lower their production.

Multinationals or transnational Corporations can also be define as large expartry companies that have their headquarters
In one foreign country and establish subsidiaries in many other countries of the world, the process of expanding the company from one country to another is the internationalisattion of capital and dominate the most strategic and sensitive sector of the economy such as oil and mining sector ,manufacturing, banking and insurance building and construction commerce as well as transport and communications in Nigeria they are involved mostly in Oil.
